TODO-legal: This is a plain-language template. It must be reviewed by Michael (and ideally a Ghanaian data-protection lawyer) before launch, and Objees must be registered with the Data Protection Commission.
Objees (“we”, “us”) provides timed BECE and WASSCE practice for students in Ghana. Many of our users are under 18. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We follow Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
Who is responsible for your data
Objees is the data controller. TODO-legal: registered company name, address and Data Protection Commission registration number. Contact: hello@objees.com.
Information we collect
Students. Only what we need to run your practice: your name, a username we create for you, your level (e.g. JHS 2) and, if relevant, your school. We do not ask students for an email address, phone number, date of birth or photo. We store the papers you sit, your answers and your scores.
Parents and guardians. Your name and phone number (to verify your account by SMS and to help you recover it), the children you add, and your payment records.
Schools. The names and contact details of school staff who use Objees, the students you enrol, and the questions and mocks your teachers create.
This website. If you use the contact form, we keep what you send us. We use privacy-friendly analytics that do not use cookies or identify you personally.
How we use it
- To run Objees: sign you in, give you papers, mark them and show your results.
- To let a guardian or a student’s school see that student’s results (only their own students/children).
- To process payments and vouchers.
- To reply to messages and demo requests.
- To keep Objees secure and improve it.
We do not sell personal information, show ads, or use advertising trackers.
Children’s information
Students’ accounts are created by a parent, guardian or school, who holds the contact details. A student’s results are visible only to the student, their linked guardian(s) and their school. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete their child’s account and data at any time.
Who we share it with
Only service providers we need to run Objees (for example hosting, SMS and payment providers), under contracts that require them to protect it, and authorities where the law requires. TODO-legal: list processors and where data is stored (including any transfer outside Ghana).
How long we keep it
We keep account data while the account is active and for TODO-legal: period afterwards, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or the law requires us to keep it.
Your rights
Under Act 843 you can ask to see the information we hold about you (or your child), correct it, or have it deleted, and you can object to how we use it. Email hello@objees.com. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
